Bad North: A Tense Travelogue

We saw their ships on the horizon and instinctively sensed trouble. Lloyd and Bran found a few antique short swords and armed some men for our defense. The foe landed on our island of Sulnaster and we fought off their sword men with displays of valor. Then we fled to Norby, where Lloyd trained his men in the use of shields.

The enemy pursued us relentlessly and we always seemed to arrive just in time to arrange our defenses. On Horsholmur we recruited Dumbar and he helped us fight our first shielded enemies.

Fortunately, locals continued to join us, and our soldiers learned their trade in blood. Dumbar trained in archery before the defense at Sheep Island, where we also found a bomb.

After defending Guelltog against the first enemy archers we recruited Lucan.

There wasn't only allies to find, but artifacts as well. These powerful tools changed the fate of our people. We won at Fair Isle, and recovered the Holy Grail at Wellog.

Lucan taught his forces to use pikes at Bratton.

On the same day, Dumbar and Lucan recruited Oskar on the island of Bardsay, while Archard joined Lloyd and Bran in defending the Isle of Had.

Though our victories outweighed our defeats, some were dearly bought. The next battle occurred on Skokholm Isle, where Oskar died of his wounds. After fierce debate our leader Lloyd agreed to use the Grail to return Oskar to life. And therefore, we averted our first disaster.

We secure Pepperholm, but suffered another failure at Sambiarholmur, where the enemy burned their first building. In a trade-off we found the Ring of Command, which Lucan wore, leading more men to follow him into battle.

Lloyd, Dumbar, Lucan, and Archard defended Crow's Nest and Big Isle before recruiting Felix at Stack, while Brann and Oskar slaughtered the foe at Asphytton.

Victories followed at Skrudur and Koltun. We reveled in battle in those days, when we had long forgotten our minor failure at Skokholm, and believed we were invincible.

While at Ako, we recruited the swordsmen Putnam but lost two buildings to a new foe: axemen carrying shields.

At Eday we defeated an all archer army with no loses. In that day our swordsmen proved their heroism.

Oskar, Dumbar, Putnam, and Lucan defended Bjarvarey against giant armored swords men, who, though they carried no shields, were impervious to archers. Another four defended Barren Rock on the same day.

We won a massive victory on Scarva against the fierce, dual-wielding swordsmen we had heard so much about.

We took Dawn from the foe, and found the Philosopher's Stone at Hassale. With the latter our wealth swelled as we passed the midpoint of our journey.

On Iron Isle we recruited Wyman and his archers.

A great sorrow befell us as Dumbar, Putnam, and Felix died at Summer Island. When we recovered their bodies we found them pierced by arrows too large for a normal man to draw.

Then we defended the crumbling wall of ancient castles on the islands of Sampson and Harshrock.

On Cruach we found the Jar of Jabena, and then defended Alfasy against a mob of foes.

At Skaplay we recruited Henuas the Fleet of Foot and his spearmen, before going on to fight at Corn Holm.
Among the dead on the fields of Caldeg we found the Warhammer, and with three others held the Iron Craig against the deadly vikings.

Victory followed victory as Bramsy, Malno, Mollow, and Luredey before setting our eyes on the final Island.

At Ulva Bran, Lucan, and Oskar died against the overwhelming hordes, but Henuas held the field. And when the last boat arrived, and Henuas had slain their warriors, the world was bathed in silence.
